Sony develops full color and flexible OLED display

Sony develops full color and flexible OLED display
Sony never gets enough of amazing the world with their advancements in technology and we aren’t complaining to say the least. (After resuming my posture) I’d now like to brief you on this absolutely astonishing and paper-thin OLED display that they have come out with (though they are not the first ones to do so but what the heck we love Sony). The fact that its about 0.3 mm thick, it’s a full-colour display with a resolution of 169x120 may not stun you as much as the fact that you can bend it. Yes, it’s flexible! Ok it wouldn’t be right to say it’s as pliant as a photograph print (couldn’t think of a better metaphor I’m so bowled over by this) but it is good enough. The OLEDs typically use a glass substrate, but Sony researchers developed new technology for forming organic TFT on a plastic substrate, to create a thin, lightweight and flexible full-color display, which also helps to sustain the clarity.

Pocket the Keychain Pocket Watch by Francisco Cubides

Pocket the Keychain Pocket Watch by Francisco Cubides
What are the two things that you never leave your house without? It’s your keychain (with the keys obviously) and your watch, but my question is why carry two things when you can have both in one. Actually it’s not my question it’s the brainchild of Francisco Cubides. While many do not pay attention to the type of keychain they use, some are rather more conscious, which is why this elegant concept of a Keychain Pocket Watch is guaranteed to turn heads. It looks like an ordinary cube at first glance, but pulling the cord will display the current time even when blanketed in darkness.

Samsung develops world's thinnest active matrix OLED at just 1.1 inches

Samsung develops world's thinnest active matrix OLED at just 1.1 inches
Samsung has developed the world's thinnest 2.2-inch active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AM-OLED) display which is only 0.53 millimeters thick, the thickness of a postcard. It is much lighter, brighter and more energy-efficient than current dominating LCD panels, the company said. Samsung plans to mass-produce the paper-thin panel within a few months and supply it to mobile phone and other portable gadget makers. Korea's Reigncom and Japan's Kyosera have already purchased considerable amounts and applied it to Clix MP3 players and Media Skin mobile phones, respectively. Samsung,s new organic screen is thinner than a credit card. The company hopes it to be used in high-end mobile phones and mini video players

Even we want to cry "Boo Hoo!" and scream "not fair!" but there is little that we can do about it. Apparently South Korea will be the first country to get the 80GB Sony PS3 by June16 th. Having cleared the FCC, hopefully this one or a higher HD model will hit the U.S. shores.

Citizen's new solar powered watch

Citizen's new solar powered watch
Sadly the new solar powered watch from Citizen is quite an eyesore. This one is a part of the Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Watch in Alterna series. Featuring a durable aluminum case with a spherical crystal glass dial. It also features a date calendar and is waterproof up to100m. The Radio-Controlled features radio reception (available in Japan and select countries) with complete time precision. Without using the radio-controlled signal, the time is +/- 15 seconds per month. Eco-Drive offers 5 years running time from full charge. Functionality aside we hope that the designers at Citizen wake up from their sleepy slumbers and put on their thinking caps again!

Real Life Combat Action with the Mini Helicopter

Real Life Combat Action with the Mini Helicopter
The Remote Control Mini Helicopter is a toy that's going to bring out the be(a)st in you. Its fitted with an IR transmitter and sensor and the remote control has a shoot button. So when you and your pal are flying your machines you get a chance to experience real combat. When you hit your pal's chopper with the IR beam on your helicopter his helicopter crashes; kind of like laser tag. This is as close to the war you can get, not that we like wars! But it's a game of thrill and packed with action.

Haier Elegance the "World's Smallest Phone"

Haier Elegance the "World's Smallest Phone"
Man and his obsession with size is legendary. His gadgets have to be small and his assets (pun intended) big. Well to satiate his craving for small gadgets is the Haier Elegance which beats the Xun Chi 138 a the smallest phone. It is a GSM phone with a MP3 player thrown in for a good measure. It's only 3.6" long and features 128MB memory but is expandable by 1GB via Micro SD, FM tuner, Stereo Bluetooth, OLED display and Tri-Band GSM. Three hours of talktime and 11 hours of MP3 playback seems pretty slick.

Belkin Network USB Hub

Belkin Network USB Hub
Who really doesn't like a clutter-free desk? Ask me, I've stopped upgrading my gizmos for the fear of another wire tangling my desk space. My phobia for less wires must have reached the ears of Belkin because their Network USB Hub is god sent. The Hub works with your existing wireless router to give you wireless access to printers, media readers, and external hard drives. Their unique technology makes your computer think that the devices on the network are directly attached to the computer. "Special caching techniques allow for support of high-speed USB devices and isochronous transfers at full speed. The software also allows you to easily transfer control of USB devices on the Hub between computers." People who will benefit from such a wonderful device are households with many computers but only one printer/scanner. Its even helpful in connecting to keyboards, mice, and other USB devices for desktop use of your laptop.

Thanko MP3 Alarm clock

Thanko MP3 Alarm clock
The Thanko Alarm clock looks more like a vintage clock but looks can be deceiving. Turn it around open the battery flap and you will find a USB cable, on connecting to the PC you can transfer MP3 songs, set the alarm and you will be woken up by your favourite track. Apart from this the watch comes preloaded with 30 melodies like bird chirping, waves, etc. The clock is powered by 3 x AA batteries and has a 300mm long USB cable. The only disadvantage is that the clock is compatible with Windows 98 and 2000 OS only it does not support Mac and Vista.
